Condition

Overall in good condition. The surfaces present with scattered scuffs, scratches, nicks, chips and discoloration consistent with age and use. The slatted seating surface with gentle rubbing and fading concentrated to the outer edges and with gentle warping throughout. The seating surface also presents with minor traces of white paint and clear residue, visible in the catalogue illustration. One slat with one nail missing and with two hairlines, both stable and the longer measuring approximately 2 7/8 in. One edge of the seat frame with a chip measuring approximately 1 in. One corner of the seat frame with a horizontal crack, stable and measuring approximately 2 in. and visible in the catalogue illustration. The corner joins of the seat frames with metal brackets that were installed at a later date. The interior surface of one of the seat frames near the legs with a horizontal crack, measuring approximately 4 in., stable and not visible when the bench is upright. The legs with scratches, minor dents, scattered spotting and discoloration as partially visible in the catalogue illustration. The bases of three legs with chips to each, the largest measuring approximately ¼ x 1 in. The base of one of the same legs has been sensitively replaced at some point, measuring approximately ¼ high. The stretchers are stable with gentle warping. A wonderful example of this model whose condition reflects its history.
