Condition

Overall in very good condition. When viewed in person, the the figured burl, detailing of the surface top and free form edge are even more striking and pronounced than the catalogue illustration. The underside with the original owner's name in faded black ink. The burls of the freeform edge are all intact and original. The surface with very minor scuffs and scratches consistent with age and very gentle use. The table top finish has been recently oiled by a professional restorer and presents exceptionally well overall. Some crevices of the oak burls are slightly darker on one side than the other, but in a complementary manner. The legs and stretchers with scattered minor areas of darker rubbing. One of the cross legs with an isolated area of darker marks (approx. 2 x 1 ¾ in.). A an exceptional slab of burled English oak that presents with an interesting and dynamic, yet highly functional top. Of an intimate size, the table comfortably seats six. A rare wood pattern collaboratively selected by George Nakashima and the clients' father in 1966, this cross-legged table is characteristic of the thoughtful designs of the Nakashima Studio.
