Condition

Overall very good condition. The oak surfaces throughout appear to retain their original finish, displaying a rich brown color that is deeper and more nuanced when viewed in person compared to the catalogue illustration. The oak surfaces with some light wear throughout consistent with age and gentle use, showing some occasional light surface scratches, abrasions, edge wear with some small associated edge losses, and some minor traces of surface soiling to the recessed contours. The proper right vertical rail of the backrest is separated very slightly from the adjoining armrest due to the natural expansion and contraction of the wood over time. This separation appears to have been filled in at some point in the history of the piece. The proper left vertical rail of the backrest is similarly separated from the adjoining armrest, stable. The front apron of the chair with an old, shallow, diagonal scratch with adjacent associated abrasion on the proper left side, not visually detractive. The exterior surface of the proper right front leg with a small horizontal surface scratch at approximately 1/3 height from the floor measuring approximately 1 1/2 inch wide, visible in the catalogue illustration. The same leg with a vertical age crack, stable and not visually detractive. The back edge of the seat adjacent to the proper right back leg with a small old chip measuring approximately 1/2 x 1/4 inch. The interior surface of the proper left back leg with a small area of what appears to be an old restoration measuring approximately 1 x 1/2 inch, not visually detractive. With a leather seatback cushion not pictured in the catalogue illustration. The cushions have been reupholstered and the leather presents with scattered minor surface scratches, scuffs and sun fading consistent with age and use. A particularly fine example of the model which presents with great visual presence.
