Condition
Overall in good condition. The pewter interlaces present with a delicate hammered surface treatment. The pewter with a few minor and isolated cracks along the edges, inherent in the making. The pewter surfaces with a few surface scratches, minor dents, minor abrasions and light surface soiling concentrated to the recessed portions of the design, consistent with age and gentle handling. The enamel decoration displays a vivid turquoise and presents with a few surface scratches and wear consistent with age and gentle handling. The mirrored glass has been replaced at some point in the history of the piece and presents with a few minor surface scratches, a few isolated and minor dark stains and light surface soiling consistent with age and gentle handling. The enamel has been examined under black light and shows no evidence of prior restoration. One screw missing to the lower corner of the proper right square decoration, visible in the catalogue illustration. The mirror has retained its original wooden back. A great example of the Celtic Revival movement, the enamel decoration contrasts beautifully with the interlaces motifs.
