Description

  • A Pair of French Art Deco Armchairs
  • walnut and fabric upholstery

Provenance

Macklowe Gallery, New York

Condition

One chair is professionally re-upholstered in velvet, the other in linen. The frame of each has been cleaned and applied with a light varnish. The example upholstered in linen has small/minor area of infill to the inside edge of one back leg. The example upholstered in velvet has an age separation crack approximately 1 1/2in long to the top edge of the back rest rail. This crack appears stable and does not inhibit the stability of the frame in any way. Overall in our opinion the chairs present well with and each retains a firm structure.
