the deep rounded sides rising from a high straight foot to an everted rim, the interior covered with a lustrous black glaze accentuated with russet splashes, the exterior with a russet glaze falling short above the foot to reveal the pale buff-colored stoneware body

Acquired prior to the 1950s.

Condition

In mostly good condition but with small two chips to the rim (approx. 4 mm each), an approx. 1.5-cm chip to the footring and pooled glaze, expected wear to the surface (including scratches to the well), and minor manufacturing imperfections (including indentation to the footring and an approx. 4-mm firing tear to the rim).
