Provenance
Sotheby's New York, 17th March 1984, lot 423.
Condition
Oil on canvas, unlined. The picture remains relatively taught on the stretcher. Surface is covered by a yellowed varnish. There is a stable web of characteristic craquelure visible throughout the picture as well as stretcher bar marks. Under UV light, there is retouching to the thicker areas of craquelure, namely in the trees at lower left and right. Additionally, finely applied lines of craquelure are visible throughout the sky. Two small areas of retouching in the cloud at center. Overall, the work presents well.
