carved to one side in boyi style with a landscape scene depicting a scholar traveling on horse, accompanied by his attendant, all below a large overhanging prunus tree, the reverse inscribed with the poem Bayue shiwu yezeng Zhang Gongcao (Ode to Lunar August Fifteenth for Zhang Gongcao), written by the famous Tang dynasty poet Han Yu, followed by an inscription reading shizai dingmaonian huayue shanghuan Sanshanqiaozi Zhuchu zuo (made by Sanshanqiaozi Zhuchu, within the first ten days of the second month of dingmao year), the seal face carved in zhuwen with eighteen characters reading jibainian renjia wufei jishan diyideng haoshi haishi dushu (for many years, people have been trying to do good deeds, but the best good deed one can truly do is studying)
