Description

  • CLOISONNE
of square section, the rounded sides rising from a tall spreading foot to a waisted neck and straight rim, with two applied gilt-bronze lion mask-ring handles to the shoulder, decorated in bright enamels with a bird perched on flowering branches of peony issuing from rockwork, all reserved on a turquoise ground, between wide bands of scrolling lotus at the foot and at the neck

Condition

There are various areas of restoration to each side of the vase, one has two areas to the centre (both approx. 3cm by 3cm), the next to the lower left side approx. 5cm by 2cm, the next to the left hand edge approx. 9cm long and the last side to the lower centre and left and right edge. One gilt-bronze handle is slightly loose but firmly attached to the body. There are some minor nicks to the rim and foot.
