Probably a chair from the suite commissioned by Thomas, 1st Marquess of Rockingham (1693–1750) for the Ship Room at Wentworth Woodhouse, Yorkshire.
Condition
In overall reasonable conserved condition, now upholstered in close-nailed red leather which has very minor marks and scratches. One ear to front left leg missing. Scuffing to feet: back legs reblocked with one block missing now. Repairs to joints of front legs. Marks of old woodworm to construction wood, which seems to be no longer active.
