Diamond, paste and sapphire brooch/pendant, second half 19th century

Claw-set to the centre with a step-cut sapphire, within an open work brooch of lozenge form suspending five pendants, set throughout with cushion-shaped sapphires and diamonds and six pastes, detachable pendant fitting. 

Diamonds bright and lively, mixed colours and clarities, estimated total diamond weight approximately 9.00 - 11.00 carats, two very small diamonds deficient. Six brilliant-cut colourless stones to corners along horizontal axis are replaced simulant stones. Sapphires mid to deep blue, transparent, with typical inclusions visible to the naked eye, some surface-reaching. Overall dimensions approximately 96 x 68mm. Scratches to surfaces and discolouration to metal consistent with age and wear. Brooch fiting secure, possibly later. Pendant fitting detachable. In good condition.
