Set with three graduated paste intaglios, inset to gold rope work frames, intaglios possibly based on ancient examples from the 2nd century BC, maker's monogram to reverse.

Condition

Reverse of central intaglio setting applied with interlocking C motif for Castellani. Intaglios dark orangey brown, transparent. Lower intaglio cracked and chipped to one edge. Metalwork with slight warping to some areas of rope twist motif, and minor losses to annular borders to reverse. Slight distortion and evidence of solder repair to setting of lower intaglio, with one bead motif replaced. Top bead motif flattened at top. Later brooch pin and safety catch fittings, in good working order. Scratches to metal and paste surfaces consistent with wear. Overall dimensions approximately 45 x 15mm.
