Sapphire, moonstone and diamond brooch, 1960s

Designed as a hornbill perched on a leafy branch, its body set with circular-cut sapphires, brilliant-cut diamonds and a cabochon moonstone, its eye accented with a cabochon emerald, signed Cartier, numbered.

Reverse signed Cartier New York, numbered 341. Please note that we cannot guarantee this piece as Cartier. Diamonds bright and lively, estimated total diamond weight approximately 0.70 - 0.90 carats. Sapphires mid- to light blue with violet overtones, transparent. Moonstone transparent, with pale blue and white schiller, measuring approximately 15.4 x 8.0 x 7.6mm. Emerald mid-green, transparent. Stones with minor typical inclusions visible under magnification. Light scratches to metal and stone surfaces, and small areas of discolouration metal surface to reverse consistent with age and wear. Brooch fitting secure. Overall dimensions approximately 57 x 54mm. In good condition.
