註：西嶽華山碑乃東漢桓帝延熹八年（165）於陝西華陽所立。明嘉靖年間，地震石毀，流傳墨拓更稀。傳世三大拓本中，「長垣本」於乾隆癸巳（1793）歸金石書法藏家陳伯恭。成親王得見後，賦詩以誌，兼及其校勘之見解。嘉慶丁巳（1797）仲春，此拓本轉入其收藏，遂將詩錄於跋尾。嘉慶庚午年（1810），得見「四明本」墨拓，亦錄此詩為跋，足見對該碑之重視。

本冊即錄此詩於手繪描花箋上，贈「梅華溪居士」錢泳。錢氏（1759-1844），江蘇無錫人，精研金石碑版書畫，雖布衣終身，惟與成親王同嗜書畫，常相品評鑑賞，成邸自書及臨古墨迹，不少倩錢氏摹勒，刻印成帖，風行海內。此冊寫於「長垣本」入藏後，可見得此珍本，心情愜意，遂錄此詩，遙寄藝友。
