  • bronze, light brown patina, on a veined green marble base

Condition

Overall the condition of the bronze is very good with some minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There are a few small lacunae consistent with the casting process. There are a few spots of wax to the surface. There are a few minor chips, scratches and abrasions to the edges and corners of the marble base.

Catalogue Note

Only a small number of bronzes after models by Dalou were cast by Houdebine. Several casts, including one of his Young Mother (inv. no. 07.151), were acquired directly from the foundry by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, in 1907.
