the goddess of beauty depicted with an idealised face with a gentle expression, her downcast eyes with heavy eyelids, above a straight nose and bow-shaped lips, her hand reaching up to the sides and wringing her centrally parted curly hair from the sea foam, all raised on a black and white marble stand

A French private collection, acquired in the 1950s.

Condition

As shown, surface slightly weathered and nose slightly chipped. The right hand is visible on the back. There is glue to the chin, but probably from the attachment to the stand.
