Condition
This work is in good condition overall. There is evidence of light wear and handling along the edges, including some minor and unobtrusive hairline craquelure at the pull margins. A faint stretcher bar impression is visible along the top edge with some associated horizontal hairline cracking. Under very close inspection, several scattered diagonal cracks are visible in the upper right corner, and a pinpoint gray media accretion is visible in the lower center edge of the blue form, likely from the time of execution. Under Ultraviolet light inspection, a few areas fluoresce and appear to have benefited from light retouching: several spots along the edges, most notably at the top right corner and in the upper right corner; a 1-inch diagonal filled in crack in the upper right corner; a 1-inch area in the top of the form on the right; and a 1-inch area at bottom edge of the white form on the left. Framed.

Catalogue Note
"Painting is as intense as psychoanalysis. What distinguishes a real artist from a painter is his ability to know his sources and where they come from."
