Condition

Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the lead is slightly deeper and the green slightly brighter in the original. Condition: This work is in very good condition. Close inspection reveals extremely minor wear towards the lower corners. Further close inspection reveals a few very fine and unobtrusive rub marks to places in the paint, and evidence of a tiny nick towards to the lower centre of the right green edge. All surface irregularities to the lead are in keeping with the artist's choice of medium. No restoration is apparent when examined under ultraviolet light.

I like to react on things, with the normal canvas you have to kill the ground, give it something to react against. With the metals you already have something – its scratches, scrapes…"
