Condition

The canvas has not been lined. There are three indentations to the canvas from the verso along the left hand edge of the work with areas of associated craquelure. There is a further indentation in the lower right hand quadrant next to the stag. There are some other minor areas of craquelure elsewhere. There is some surface dirt and minor rubbing and abrasions throughout. There is rubbing and abrasion to the framing edges. UV light inspection reveals some minor areas of flecked retouching, notably to the left hand edge, the aforementioned areas of indentation and in the trees upper left. Held in a gilt frame and under glass.
