the handle with the top pierced through for suspension, carved to both sides with the 'silkworm' pattern; the disc carved in the Eastern Zhou style, the side with three characters reading yuershijiu ('jade twenty nine')
Condition
The handle has been altered from another shape into this rectangular bead. There are tiny bruises and shallow chips along the edges, as consistent with its age and type, the largest measuring approx. 1 cm to the upper edge. There are also expected minor chips and a minute bruise along the outer edge of the disc. The catalogue illustration is warmer than the actual colour of the stones.
