Une valeur sûre en grand format ! Depuis une vingtaine d’années, Nicolas de Crécy a ralenti son activité d’auteur de bande dessinée, accaparé par son travail d’illustrateur internationalement reconnu. Ses visions urbaines aux couleurs inimitables sont désormais très recherchées par les galeristes. Elles sont pour majorité réalisées en petit format. C’est tout le contraire de cette Chinatown, vaporeuse pagode-ville installée aux pieds d’une de ces cités de tours ocre que seul de Crécy sait imaginer. Un grand format qui ne nuit en rien à la qualité du travail, au contraire. Les résultats les plus spectaculaires de de Crécy dans les salles de vente sont d’ailleurs liés à ces rares grands formats urbains, ce qui prouve que les spécialistes ne s’y trompent pas. Opposition entre l’arrière-plan sombre et le chapiteau lumineux. Opposition aussi entre les tours dessinées à la plume et l’avant-plan dilué dans l’eau. Magique et fascinant.
