Condition

Overall the condition of the bust is very good, with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There is some veining to the marble consistent with the material, including slightly open veins to the drapery at the front and to the back at the proper left shoulder. There is some dark staining to the reverse.There are a few chips and scratches, notably to the bottom edge of the bust, and to the top edge of the socle. There are some remnants of composite fill where the bust meets the socle. There is residue of an old label to the front of the socle. The verde antico column is in good condition overall, with dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There are a few minor losses to the protruding rings of the column and there are chips and scratches to all of the edges. There are re-attachments to the second and the third ring from the top.
