In overall good condition, the margins have been trimmed and are clean overall, with occasional notes in black, occasional paper repairs to the leaves and edges, water staining and smudges to the ink throughout the pages, one bifolium in the middle of the manuscript with considerable losses and holes which have been repaired and patched with paper and tape, as viewed.

The colophon states that the author completed this work in the middle of the month Rajab 651 AH/September 1253 AD. A later added title of f.1a states that the title of the manuscript is Kitab ma’adin al-dhahab fi funun al-adab, not recorded in Brocklemann.
