Catalogue Note
Agostino Bonalumi, Rigore, ripetizione, ricerca, 1975, cit. in Agostino Bonalumi, Catalogo Ragionato, Milano 2015, vol. I, p. 82
"Artistic research is reflection on art as objectification and as a reflection of reality, further study performed by man in the problematic relationship between self and reality.
A tense relationship marked by fluctuations and changes. The variations on a formal theme are the reinterpretation of the theme in terms of shifting certain elements and the flow of relationship between them.
Relationships and elements that cannot however undergo changes except in terms dictated by the economy - that, for the same reasons cannot support additions or external stresses - of the basic image, which otherwise would no longer be unquestionable and finite.
This flowing of the image over itself with a controllable pendular motion demands that it is structured as a form by means of arithmetic relationships."
