Condition

This work appears to be in generally good overall condition. Colours are fairly accurate compared to the original. The canvas is slightly wavy by the right upper edge. There are light rubbing marks of the old passpartout along the upper margin partially visible in the catalogue illustration and along the right upper margin. There are two minor lacks in the canvas invisible to a frontal view by the upper left corner and by the right upper corner. No traces of retouching appear to be visible under UV light.

Catalogue Note

"I was the first person who managed to issue a contract with Pollock and to sell, with a lot of effort, his paintings in my New York gallery, the Art of this Century. In Venice many years later, when I was not a gallerist any longer but I was completely dedicated to the accomplishment of my museum, I made for the young Tancredi one of the rare exception to the rule that I had imposed to myself."
