"Quando l'impasto è ancora fresco, ci metto il colore, e il colore viene assorbito, e quindi lo spessore diventa tutto colorato. però il colore non è reale. Il colore viene restituito. attraverso la quantità di bianco che ho messo nell'impasto. Quindi il rosso viene rosa, il bianco resta bianco, il nero viene grigio, anche il verde cade di tono. Dopo, quando l'impasto è asciutto, ci vado su con la carta abrasiva. Mi interessa moltissimo questo rapporto tattile con la superficie. La superficie non è solo più colore, ma è una cosa di polvere...questo colore che non esiste, che però viene fuori attraverso la polvere. Infatti, se tocchi il quadro, ti restano delle impronte sulla mano."

"When the mixture is still fresh, I put the colour, and the colour is absorbed, and thus the thickness becomes all colourful. But the colour is not real. The colour is returned. Through the amount of white that I put in the mixture. So red turns pink, white stays white, black turns grey, even green drops of tone. Then, when the mixture is dry, I go over it with sandpaper. I am very interested in this tactile relationship with the surface. The surface is no more just colour, but a things of dust... this colour that does not exist, but comes out through the dust. In fact, if you touch the painting, fingerprints are left on the hand." Ettore Spalletti
