Condition

Original canvas. There are frame abrasions with minor associated paint loss and pinholes in places at the top edge. There are scattered losses to the paint surface, notably to the sky, to the water in the lower left and the lower half of the right edge. Some of these have been crudely retouched and this is visible to the naked eye. Scattered craquelure is also visible in places, notably to the middle of the water. There is a light surface scratch to the right of the mast. There is a layer of surface dirt with the odd fleck of dirt. Inspection under UV light reveals the restoration to places at the edges and corners, notably the two right corners and edge and the lower left corner. Held in a modern decorative frame. Unexamined out of frame.
