Description

  • An Attic Pottery Head Oinochoe
  • Ceramic
  • Height 16.8 cm.
with trefoil mouth and high cylindrical handle, the body moulded in the form of the head of a woman with centrally parted coiffure bound in a sakkos and traces of white painted wreath.

Vincent (1886-1967) and Olga (1906-2000) Diniacopoulos, Montréal, Québec, acquired in 1910-1932 or 1954

Condition

Appears to be intact. Minor chips and abrasions on rim. Tip of nose lightly abraded. Black-glazed areas with hairline cracks extending down to below ears, small patches of misfiring, and some wear to back of sakkos and handle. Added-white wreath almost entirely missing; ghost of several leaves still visible on top of head.
