Description
- An Indurated Limestone Mask, probably Phoenician

- Height 44.5 cm.
from an over life-size anthropoid sarcophagus, wearing a wide wig, the round face with prominent chin, wide finely-carved mouth rounded at the corners, straight nose, and almond-shaped eyes with raised rims and cosmetic lines, the wig and ears left roughly-carved, the back concave, the surface of the mask possibly smoothed down in modern times.

Condition
Wig and ears roughly worked in antiquity, surface refreshed/repolished in modern times to attenuate chips and abrasions, resulting in a loss of detail in treatment of eye-rims and other features. Nose rubbed and slightly abraded. Traces of chisel marks on proper left temple and in front of ear. Back concave.
