Description

  • A Roman Marble Relief Torso of Dionysos

probably from a large Dionysiac sarcophagus, the god standing with the weight on his left leg, and wearing a goat skin or nebris tied over his left shoulder, his hair falling in long strands over the shoulders; no restorations.

Condition

Fragmented as shown. No restorations. Upper drapery of the goat skin/nebris chipped. Nick on proper left thigh. Abrasion on neck. Genitalia missing. Surface weathered and abraded overall, with minor encrustations.
