the bird skilfully worked from the black part of the stone, its wings finely incised with plumage, the head turned to its side and detailed with rounded eyes and a pointed beak, depicted perching on a leafy branch bearing two peaches

Condition

The group is in overall good condition. There are expected minute nicks to the edges and a tiny bruise to the leaf. The catalogue illustration is a tinge darker than the actual colour of the stone.
