Condition

Good condition for an object of this type and age. Nicks, chips, scratches, and abrasions consistent with age and use. Shallow insect damage and weathering resulting in textured surface on front of mask as seen in catalogue illustration, patinated over and with remains of red and white pigment. An old loss to the proper left back edge of the mask around forehead level. Crusty buildup under the edge of the beaded textile attachment. Beads with encrustation, some fraying and small losses. An old white label on the reverse inscribed in black ink: [indistinct?] / "no. 5 8/8/66"
