- alabaster, on a serpentine marble column
Condition
Overall the condition of the alabaster is good, with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. The alabaster appears to have been cleaned extensively. There is minor veining to the alabaster, consistent with the material, including at both ankles and the proper right wrist. There are a few minor chips, including to the 'curtain' at the back, the bottom border of the dress, and around the bottom edge of the titled base. There is a well-restored break to the terrasse on the left hand side, which runs through the girl's proper right toes. There are a few minor scratches, notably one to the nose.
The column is composed in four parts. There is some general wear, including a few chips and abrasions. The column and figure are slightly unstable.
