Condition
Overall, the condition of the bronze is good, with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There is some minor dark spotting to the gilt patina, in particular to the chest. There are a series of lighter patches or plugs running down the side of the body from the proper left breast through to the upper leg. There are some patches of dirt, including to the buttocks. There are some small chips and abrasion to the edges of the marble base. The swords are separately cast.

Catalogue Note
Adolf Brütt studied at the Berlin Academy before moving to Munich, where he became part of the Munich secession. Brütt won a gold medal in the Paris Exposition Universelle of 1900. A larger bronze version of his Schwerttänzerin is in the Kiel Rathaus.
