- with plaque THE NEW BRITAIN MACHINE CO./NEW BRITAIN, CONN., U.S.A./3539
- cast iron
Condition
Overall in good condition. All surfaces with natural darker patination in the recessed areas of the design, as visible in the catalogue illustration, and inherent in the casting. The upper edges with slight tarnishing, nicks and general scattered scratches throughout. The base of the cabinet is fitted with a sliding door opening to three shelves. The sliding door and wheels are fully functional. By turning the wheel lever, it either raises the cabinet off the floor, to allow for easy movement on the wheels, or it rests the full weight of the cabinet on the ground, preventing any movement . There are two losses to one wheel (each approx. 1 ½ x ½ in.) that are visible in the catalogue illustration. Please note the lock plate (which also functions as a handle for the door) is broken, with the second segment missing. Overall an interesting piece of industrial design, offering a variety of uses.
