Literature
Dunbar, Fine Furniture of the 50’s, sales catalogue, Berne, 1956, pp. 162, 196
Condition
Overall in very good condition. The surfaces present with general nicks, scuffs and light scratches, consistent with age and gentle use. Please note that this desk is asymmetrical, with the narrowest edge (right proper) at 25 ½ in wide when closed and 23 ½ in. at the narrowest edge when the leaf is open. When the leaf is open, the wood is a different grain direction and slightly darker in hue. One drawer with a central nick in the wood and a second drawer with a nick near the bottom. Lastly 2-3 nicks at the bottom edge of drawers, exposing some of the unstained wood. None of these are visually distracting. There is on scratch across the top (approx. 10 in. long). An interesting form by Dunbar, the original paper label is on the underside along with the plaque.
