Condition

Overall in very good condition. The wood surfaces present with minor surface scratches, nicks and some minor abrasions, consistent with age and gentle use. Wood finish has been refreshed and oiled and presents with a rich coloring. The leather of the chairs has acquired a beautiful patina from age and when viewed first hand, the color of the leather is slightly more saturated and richer than in the catalogue illustration. The back and sides of the chair with a slight lightening to the leather around the wooden rails, visible when the structure is lifted off the base and the darker hue of the leather is visible behind the seat rails. The leather surfaces with minor surface scratches, light crazing and some areas of concentrated abrasions and discolorations, consistent with gentle use. The leather with minor circular discolorations to the top edges of the backrest (approx. 4in.) consistent with handling and use. Three leather lined pins missing to the bottom proper right end side of the chair and visible in the catalogue illustration. The chair frame and leather insert to the ottoman easily lift out of the frame and are not upholstered directly to the wood. The leather seat cushion functions as fully extended to cover the ottoman or folded in half to rest on the seat. This is inherent in the design by Koch, allowing for one to place the form on the floor, as a fireplace chair, should one wish. A thoughtful design with supple leather, this model presents very well overall.
