Condition
Good overall condition. The chromium plated base presenting with surface scratches, abrasions and wear, in turn revealing the bronze under color in places, particularly at the horizontal floor stretchers and top (under the glass), some of which is visible in the catalogue illustration. The middle section of the desk base, is flanked by two half circular metallic sections which do not retain their original chromed metal back plate, but this is only visible when the interior of the desk is examined. The figured Saint Gobain glass top is composed of three sections as is visible in the catalogue. The proper left pane with light surface scratches to its top and with edge chips (1 in. sq) to the bottom edge of the outer corner and with seven small chips (approx. ¼ in.) to its top right edge. The middle pane with light surface scratches to its top and with three chips to its upper right edge (approx. 2 in. x 1 in., another measuring 1 ½ in. x ½ in., the last measuring ¼ in. x ¼ in.). The proper right pane with light surface scratches to its top and with a chip (approx. 2 in. x 1 ¼ in.) to its front left hand side and another to its left edge (3/4 x ½ in.). A bold and powerful design, this French desk fuses industrial innovation with dynamic and functional form, enhanced with very rare Saint Gobain glass.
