Condition
Overall very good condition. There is general aging, faint tarnishing and scattered spotty oxidization which creates a rich patina to the brass. There are a few scattered spotty areas of discoloration and one patch of darker coloring (approx. 3 x 4.5 in), all of which blend quite well to the overall patina and consistent with this material over time. The recessed areas of the design, primarily around the lower turned lip and upper edges of the fixture with some cleaning residue in the crevices. One area of the shade with a very shallow dent which is not visually obtrusive. The counterweight mechanism could benefit from restringing of the electrical wire as it does not glide smoothly. This is likely due to the later wiring, which utilizes a rubber coating. Please note Sotheby's does not guarantee the functionality and/or the voltage compatibility for electrical wiring, and suggests having all electrical components inspected by a licensed electrician. An elegant design with pure lines, it is a well-documented model, often used by Wegner for a variety of interiors.
