Description

  • mother of pearl and wood
each of flattened rectangular form, one with a four-character inscription, the other inscribed with three characters followed by a seal in raised mother-of-pearl reading shan feng, all enclosed within a formalised archaistic motif border inlaid with silver wire, repeated around the sides and ends

Condition

One scroll weight, illustrated right in the catalogue, has some minor chips which have been filled in, the largest measuring 0.8 cm which can be seen in the illustration. There are typical small nicks and surface wear on the underside consistent with age and use on both scrolls. The inlays of silver and mother of pearl are well preserved, with small cracks to the latter as visible in the catalogue illustration.
