Condition

This drawing is in very good condition. The paper is flat and there are no visible signs of staining, cockling, foxing or tearing. The paper is slightly time-stained at the edges and may have darkened slightly but it is overall and gives a pleasing effect. The picture is under glass and contained in an attractive simple Pre-Raphaelite-style wood and gilt frame and mount. Unexamined out of the frame.

Catalogue Note

This delicate drawing was probably made c.1895 and closely relates to Daffodils (private collection). Both drawings probably depict the artist's daughter Ruth (1880-1941). Ruth became a designer whose most famous work was for London Underground posters and the design for the logo of Lilley & Skinner shoes.
