To the naked eye: The painting appears in very good condition. It has been cleaned correctly quite recently. It has also been relined in the second part of the 20th century, a bit strongly. We notice the large canvas weave. We also notice a trace of pentimento on the collar on the left. The ascot tie has been worn by a former clean. Under UV light : We notice some traces of an old green varnish. The painting has been partially unvarnished on the face. We notice some restorations on the white collar and the black cloth.
