The canvas is unlined, with a few small patches visible on the reverse. There is a faint pattern of craquelure. Ultra violet light reveals a relatively even, opaque varnish and a small spot of retouching in the foreground a few centimetres above the signature. The sky has an uneven appearance, apparently relating to strokes of old discoloured retouchings, in much of the sky, however neither these nor the small areas patched on the reverse appear to fluoresce. The colours in reality are much deeper than in the catalogue illustration, and the varnish more yellowed. Presented in a decorative gilt frame
