Catalogue Note

first edition. The author considers Madagascar "a most fitting and desirable place to settle an English Colony and Plantation ... The chiefest place in the world to inrich men by Trade ... farre exceeding all other Plantations in America or elsewhere." This proposal was in fact never carried into effect, although there was briefly a settlement on the southwest coast.
