Catalogue Note

The only edition of the scarce, first English book on Dentistry. Born in 1634 in humble circumstances, Tryon became a successful beaver-hat maker and an early proponent of vegetarianism. He studied medicine and astrology, and wrote several works on mystical philosophy and dietetics.
