Condition
Original canvas on its original stretcher. It is buckling slightly at the corners and along the top edge. A seam in the canvas over the upper stretcher bar is visible through the paint layer. There are frame abrasions along all four edges with associated paint loss to the left edge. There are a few areas of paint shrinkage, mostly restricted to the white pigment of the background. There are surface scratches, most notably a diagonal scratch in the lower left quadrant. There is a layer of surface dirt with spots of dirt in places. Inspection under UV light reveals the odd spot of retouching to the edges and corners in the upper part of the composition. Held in a black and gold painted frame. Unexamined out of frame.
