Description

  • wool, pile
  • approximately 188 by 143cm; 6ft. 2in., 4ft. 8in.

Condition

Overall measurements: 139cm across the top, 139cm across the bottom, 143cm vertically though the middle, 184cm along the left side, 188cm along the right side. Thick soft wool, flexible handle. Dense 5mm pile overall. Very minor oxidisation to browns, slightly more noticeable on far left side guard. There is a shaped faint yellow mark, top right corner within inner narrow borders, which is visible on the reverse and this area has lower pile. The ends with original soumac overcasting, vestiges of flatweave and warp fringing, not overlocked. Each with original madder triple sidecords. It would benefit from a professional clean. A striking rug with attractive natural abrash to main field, incorporating various different motifs. An attractive ivory ground border.
