Condition

140cm across the top, 137cm from the bottom, 190cm from the left, 185cm from the right. Lovely flexible handle, Generally dense, even, 1mm pile overall with minor areas down to knotbars, for example in the mauve flowers in the upper row. There are some small holes for example centre of third row down and top right corner. Some losses at both ends. Very fine overlocking along lower end (some losses as visible in the photograph) and more visible overlocking top end. Little re-weave and repairs in corners of top outer guard. Partially original overcast sidecords. Very characterful design, reminiscent of Safavid silk textiles, in elements and motifs used. A highly decorative and smart work.
