Condition

Overall Measurements: 202cm across the top, 202cm across the bottom, 304cm from the left, 305cm from the right. Overall in very good condition. A striking example with flexible handle. Generally even dense 2mm pile overall with minor sections down to knotbars due to oxidisation, see for example taupe coloured motifs surrounding the main central medallion. Area of lower pile to knot heads across width of lower section of main field, lower pile within taupe of corner spandrels. Some minor surface discolouration. Both ends with original flatweave and vestiges of silk fringing, machine overlocking along top edge. Lower end not overlocked. Original overcast sidecords. A very elegant and sophisticated silk with charming use of bird motifs.
