A Kashan 'Mohtasham' rug, Central Persia

Overall measurements: 132cm across the top, 129cm across the bottom, 192 cm along left side, 194cm along right side Generally in good pile, approximately 3mm in depth. With some oxidisation to the dark beige and a band of oxidisation/wear across the lower end of field and border of approx. 30cm of depth, with wear to knotbars, localised tinting. Upper end with closely trimmed warps. Lower end with mainly original twisted warps, a section of approx. 15cm replaced in lower left corner. Re-overcast sidecords. A pretty rug with the high quality Kurk wool associated with these weavings.
